is a photographer based in Santander, Spain. He specializes in long-exposure landscape photography along the Cantabrian coast, capturing the beauty of the beaches, dunes, cliffs and inland features. He says a “big stopper”–neutral density filter is his best friend because it allows him to slow down the exposure and get that silky, flowing water look.

What makes black and white photography so important to you?

Black and White Photography as I see it is an abstraction of reality and black & white helps me to capture the essence and allows me to convey the sensation I feel at that moment in front of my subject.

What inspires you to create photographs?

About my inspiration I must say I am very close to the sea. I have always lived on the coast and I feel it very deep inside. My travels are also a great source of inspiration. I also like to include people as part of the landscape or as the main subject in my portraits.

Why is black and white photography so important to our future in the art world?

I think black and white photography will always be in the vanguard of artistic photography, be it for analog or digital. Nowadays we can see complex editing tasks done with ease in photography, but in my opinion, in the long run that will not remain in vogue forever. Black and white, in its simplicity, I believe is more durable.
